Water or Coke?

Folks take a look at this this may shock you.
WATER
#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population.)
#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak
that it is mistaken for hunger.
#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.
#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs
for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of
Washington study.
#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of
water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain
for up to 80% of sufferers.
#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term
memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on
the computer screen or on a printed page.
#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of
colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast
cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop
bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water
you should drink every day?
COKE
#1. In many states the highway patrol carries
two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from
the highway after a car accident.
#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke
and it will be gone in two days.
#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the
toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour,
then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes
stains from vitreous china.
#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds
Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour
a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble
away the corrosion.
#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola
to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into
the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix
with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
#8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke
into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run
through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen
grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your
windshield.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
#1. the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.
It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric
acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major
contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.
#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the
commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place
cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean
engines of the trucks for about 20 years!
Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?
or Coke?

The stuff about water is true, but the stuff about Coke is false. Chec out snopes.com to learn more. It does make for interesting reading, but you have to take it with a grain of salt, so to speak.

Back in the day I used to drink a lot of water! Until my Aunt Cleopatra introduced me to Pepsi Cola! Now my mom makes sure I drink a lot of water!

i stopped drinking soda altogether about 3 weeks ago because of what it can do to the body.

Post 8 by The_Bloody_Vampire (Generic Zoner) on Thursday, 31-Jan-2008 0:43:53

I will pick water because I do not like coke.

Post 9 by Dubstep1984 (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 31-Jan-2008 0:52:38

i admit that i did sneak a tiny bit of cherry coke today, but i really should drink more water.

I'm so glad I don't drink soda. When I do have it, it's an all-out affair. Very rare. I'm not a health nut, but I do drink alt of water. We go through bottles like crazy around here. However, I also use some of it for coffee (about two cups a day), but it's decaf, so I'm not too worried. I admit that I love seltzer, but very rarely have it.

I hate water with a passion, but I'm now forcing at least 4 or 5 pint glasses down every day, because I know I need it, but jI'd much rather be forcing 5 bottles of coke0, vanilla coke, cherry coke or ordenary fatboy coke down every day, lmfaolmfaolmfaolmfao!

How can anyone hate water? I've heard this a few times and don't get it.

Post 13 by Dubstep1984 (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 31-Jan-2008 13:30:19

actually yes headwig, i hate water as well. i hate tap water that has clorine in it. i positively love the purified water that comes from my parents ice maker. when i am at their house, which is not very often, about once every 2 months or so because i live so far away from them now, i drink as much of that water as i can.

Post 14 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 03-Feb-2008 11:25:31

I'm with Somanea. I can't stand most tap water, because the chemical taste is usually so strong. Some areas of the country are better or worse than others. But nothing tops a nice, cold glass of purified water. There are all kinds of water filtration systems, so it's easy to get your water filtered. Coke is tasty, but I find that I feel better when I cut back on the soda.

Post 15 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Sunday, 03-Feb-2008 11:40:27

Yeah, I can't stand tap water. We have one of those water jugs with a purifier thingy on the bottom, but there's never enough room in our fridge to store the thing. It's quite big, so when I can't have bottled or purified water, it's basically coke, coffee, chocolate or nothing, lmfao.

The water in my town is o bad, that when we went to the filter store and the women tested it, she said the only Misssissippi river water is worse. Um, needless to say we don't drink it. We use spring water and we also have a water cooler with the filter in it that we sometimes use. Personally, I'll only drink the spring water unless we run out. However, some places do have decent tap water.

Post 18 by Dubstep1984 (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 05-Feb-2008 13:46:43

at the conklin center for the blind, there are 3 watercoolers with purified water in them. one is in the living area of the dormatory, one is in the dining room, and one is in the workshop. when i was a student there, i was very healthy because i drank that water all the time. i wonder how much it would cost to get one of those systems for home use.

Post 19 by singingsensation (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 08-Feb-2008 23:07:35

I like coke and water. I don't drink pop every day. And even if I do, I drink one pop, except when I drink mountain dew LiveWire--I drink a whole two liter, but it is very rare when I get it from the store. I do drink water if there is nothing else to drink, or even if there is. Lol.

Post 20 by Dubstep1984 (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 13-Feb-2008 18:33:00

i remember this one day i bought a whole 2 ledar from the school store and drank the whole thing in 2 days.

Post 21 by Dubstep1984 (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 13-Feb-2008 18:36:43

and at the end of that year, our teacher took us on a class trip to the beach. i had 4 8 oz cans of coke, and 4 20 oz bottles of coke. i was feeling extremely sick by the time that i returned to the dorm. it could have been a mixture of too much sun because i was sunburned, and all of the soda combined.

Post 22 by singingsensation (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 06-Mar-2008 23:58:49

oh wow. You were probably mostly sick from how much caffeine you had. LOL. And maybe you got it also from the sun.

Post 23 by blw1978 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 13-Mar-2008 23:52:46

Hi, I try to drink lots of water. But I have to have at least one can of Coke a day. If I don't side effects include: extreme frustration usually combined with some swearing, an intense craving for carbonation, a deprived feeling and an absolutely horrendous headache. Now, don't everyone tell me I'm addicted to caffeine, I already know I am, but one can of Coke a day combined with lots of water isn't gonna do me that much harm. I work out regularly, don't smoke and don't use drugs. Besides, some caffeine can be beneficial for many people. If I were stranded on a desert island, I'd want an unending supply of Coke. It's just one of those products I can't live without.

Post 24 by Thunderstorm (HotIndian!) on Friday, 14-Mar-2008 0:21:07

eh? coke? water?
I like to stick on with water, you see. I normally drink at least 2 liters of water everyday. but my doc use to advice me to drink one more liter. and as soon as i wake up, I regularly drink at least 2 glasses of water and I feel that makes me to puke easily with out constibation.

so, water and coffee during the week days and water and alcohol during the weekends. eh?

Post 25 by cattleya (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Friday, 14-Mar-2008 0:28:29

Agreed, but my poison is diet mountain dew...50MG caffeen as apposed to the 175/325MG in coffee, and Decaf has only half the amount of caffinated. Just something I found interesting when looking at a US Gov site. Anyways, one caffinated diet dew in the morning...Helps me wake up; curves the head ache; ETC, and then often I have one caffeen free diet dew in the evening before bed. The rest of the time I drink water or juice...Also, not sure about the article being true. I know people who sware by it, and I know others who refute it, so, *shrug* Don't matter much to me...Trying to give up cigs; not going to fight with that too!!!

Post 26 by purple penguin (Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.) on Saturday, 15-Mar-2008 0:19:16

Anyone seen those water filters you put on the sink faucet?

Yuck. coke everyday? It's ok once in a while but not every day.

Post 27 by cattleya (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Saturday, 15-Mar-2008 0:23:41

Yep, we own one. The water around here is crap, but the filter makes it more tolerable...

Post 28 by EbonyMoon187 (Generic Zoner) on Sunday, 16-Mar-2008 5:48:12

Hehehe, wow. Well, for me, coke all the way. I litrally drink it all day, with breakfast, if i'm thirsty during the night, when ever. lol Coke is soooo much better than water. Don't get me wrong, i'll drink other stuff if i have no coke left (which like never happends) lol soooo, coke/other softdrinks is the go. Oooh, not to mension chocolate milk and whatnot. *sigh* Water occasionly if i'm dieing i guess. *grins

Post 29 by Dubstep1984 (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 17-Mar-2008 1:07:52

oh my... that stuff can eat your insides if you are not careful. and yes. coke can clean a greace stain off of a driveway. u just leave it sit for a while and then scrub it off. it is the carbonation and the acid in the coke that does it.

Post 30 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Monday, 17-Mar-2008 1:49:16

That's only if you drink a whole lot at once.

Post 31 by EbonyMoon187 (Generic Zoner) on Monday, 17-Mar-2008 4:22:46

Well, if so, then, i should be practicly dead. lmao And, i'm perfectly helthey. So, it's obviously not to bad. Ohhh, and, i forgot to mension v yesterday and red bull to. *grins

Post 32 by Damia (I'm oppinionated deal with it.) on Monday, 17-Mar-2008 5:35:03

16 ounces of coke and 32 ounces of water to make up for it. Drink the caffeenyou want, but double it out with the water to help it come out when it's time and because some of the stuff cna be dehidrating it rehidrates you ton have the water. Have a coke though if you want but drink twice as much water for good heath. A hint givin by a professor of health and wellness to us at the college around exam time.
